ClaimTell ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when creating an account and building your claim profile:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password
  • Claim profile information: Current and prior names, addresses, states of residence, former employers, banking history, and insurance history
  • Optional sensitive information: Last four digits of Social Security Number and date of birth, provided voluntarily to improve search accuracy
  • Payment information: Processed by our third-party payment processors. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Search for potential unclaimed money and claim opportunities on your behalf
  • Generate your claim opportunity report and roadmap
  • Monitor for new claim opportunities (for subscription users)
  • Send transactional emails including account verification, password resets, and claim alerts
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Improve our platform and source coverage

3. Data Protection

We take data security seriously and implement the following protections:

  • Encryption at rest: Sensitive fields including SSN last four digits and date of birth are encrypted using industry-standard encryption (libsodium)
  • No full SSN collection: We never collect, store, or transmit full Social Security Numbers
  • Password security: Passwords are hashed using Argon2id, a modern and secure hashing algorithm
  • Secure sessions: Sessions use HTTP-only, secure cookies with strict same-site policies
  • Access controls: Your data is only accessible by you and authorized platform administrators
  • HMAC search tokens: Where searchable encryption is needed, we use one-way HMAC tokens that cannot be reversed to reveal your original data

  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties
  • We do not share your personal information with advertisers
  • We do not store credit card numbers or payment credentials
  • We do not collect full Social Security Numbers
  • We do not send raw personally identifiable information to AI providers unless technically necessary for the specific search function, and when we do, we minimize the data transmitted

5. AI-Powered Features

Our platform uses artificial intelligence to help generate claim reports and summaries. When AI is used:

  • We minimize the personal information sent to AI providers
  • Full SSNs are never sent to AI services
  • AI processing logs do not store raw personally identifiable information
  • AI-generated content is informational only and does not constitute legal or financial advice

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following categories of third-party services:

  • Payment processors: To securely process payments (e.g., Stripe)
  • AI providers: To power report generation and claim analysis
  • Email delivery: To send transactional emails

Each third-party service is subject to its own privacy policy. We select providers that maintain appropriate security and privacy standards.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and claim profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed from our systems. Some data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics or in backup systems for a limited period.
